University Library digitises the book estate of Ferdinand von Fürstenberg (1661-1683).
Co-operation project between the Archbishop's Academic Library, the University Library and the Chair of Early Modern Studies at Paderborn University.
The Archbishop's Academic Library (EAB) of the Paderborn Faculty of Theology has a rich and valuable collection of historical literature. The oldest and most outstanding of these is the Theodorian Library (Theodoriana). This library was institutionalised by Dietrich (Theodor) von Fürstenberg, Prince-Bishop of Paderborn (1585-1618), in 1604 to support the teaching activities of the Jesuits in Paderborn. Ten years later, it formed the basis of the first Westphalian university, which began its teaching activities 400 years ago on 13 September 1614.
As part of the close cooperation between the Archbishop's Academic Library, the University Library and the Chair of Early Modern Studies at Paderborn University, the University Library is cataloguing and digitising parts of the 'Theodoriana'.
The digitised copies of one of the most important parts of the 'Theodoriana', the book estate of Prince-Bishop Ferdinand von Fürstenberg (1661-1683), 402 volumes with a total of around 151,000 pages, are available for worldwide use via the 'Digital Collections of Paderborn University Library' portal: https://digital.ub.uni-paderborn.de/nav/classification/193167.

RSS feed for search results in the catalogue
The new RSS function in the catalogue makes it possible to subscribe to search queries as an RSS feed and thus be continuously notified of new search results.
You can find more information about this offer in our catalogue blog: https://blogs.uni-paderborn.de/ub-katalog/
New sorting criterion in the catalogue: New acquisitions
The catalogue now allows sorting by new acquisitions. The results of a search are sorted in such a way that the titles are displayed chronologically according to when they were entered in the catalogue, with the most recently entered titles at the top. Compared to the new acquisitions lists offered via the old catalogue, this function offers considerable advantages. The previous lists only included titles that were assigned to a system location and thus systematically catalogued. As online resources such as e-books are not usually catalogued according to the subject classification system for books, online resources did not appear in the previous new acquisitions lists. Sorting according to the criterion of new acquisitions now closes this gap and takes into account all titles recorded in the catalogue that match the search criteria used. In addition, this function, together with the wide range of filtering options, allows a much more flexible creation of customised new acquisitions lists.
You can find more information on this offer in our catalogue blog: https://blogs.uni-paderborn.de/ub-katalog/

Important information about 'Heartbleed'
A few days ago, a serious security vulnerability in the OpenSSL software library, known in the media as the 'Heartbleed Bug', became known. Paderborn University Library, like many other institutions, uses OpenSSL to encrypt data traffic between its electronic services (e.g. catalogue, electronic seminar apparatus) and users' internet browsers.
As soon as the security vulnerability became known, all of the University Library's systems were checked. All vulnerable systems were immediately updated and secured. In addition, all SSL certificates were renewed to further secure data traffic.
The security vulnerability could have allowed a potential attacker to read parts of the encrypted data traffic. We therefore recommend that our users change the password for their library account to be on the safe side.
To change the password, please log in to your library account and select the menu item "Change password" on the right.
