Notebook Café

06.09.2002: The widespread use of notebooks to access the service infrastructure has created a need for counselling and training for students who are less familiar with computers and the Internet. This need is to be met by a student-organised notebook café which, in addition to providing Internet access (limited for emergencies) and advice in problematic cases, also develops recommendations for the procurement of hardware and software as well as Internet access options. Closely related to the Notebook Café is the Technology Competence Centre, which is, of course, aimed specifically at women. The Notebook Café - and with it the Technology Competence Centre - is located in the entrance area of the University Library (former group and lecture room). (see also press release from 06.09.2002)

Interlibrary loan procedures and reimbursement of expenses are being reorganised

A decree issued by the Ministry of Schools, Science and Research of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia on 25 July 2002 (AZ: 514 - 5.02.10.12) reorganises the interlibrary loan procedure and the reimbursement of expenses. For a transitional period, online interlibrary loans for media subject to return and the JASON interlibrary loan order form for media not subject to return will still be processed with transaction numbers worth 0.25 EURO ("blue TANs"). These transaction numbers are expected to become invalid on 1 January 2003 and cannot be exchanged. From 1 January 2003, the fee for each online interlibrary loan and JASON order is expected to be EUR 1.50. Conventional loan slips will also cost EUR 1.50. Borrowing slips purchased before the effective date will then become invalid. You can find more information on the new interlibrary loan system here.
