17 May - 23 June 2006 - Exhibition "Das verborgene Andere"
The exhibition showed the results of a practical photography seminar held in the 2005/06 winter semester under the direction of Prof. Dr. Barbara Becker, in which students were encouraged to explore unconventional forms and formats of portrait photography and in this way break through traditional habits of perception. The focus was on the strangeness of the supposedly familiar counterpart, which can suddenly reveal itself in the photographic representation, as well as the otherness of one's own person, which repeatedly comes to light in the self-portrait

The exhibition showed the results of a campaign in which students "showed their face" and "showed their colours" by taking a photo and speaking out against the introduction of tuition fees at Paderborn University. With the exhibition, the activists of the Aktionskreis Studiengebühren (AKS) pursued one goal above all: they wanted to show those who reject the current draft law to "secure financial justice in higher education".

The photo exhibition of Paderborn students gave an insight into how differently women perceive their environment and express it through photography. And if so, how?"

Artistic works were exhibited that were created in a practical art seminar with Prof Hermann-Josef Keyenburg in the summer semester of 2002. They were the results of a work process in which books, which are normally used in a library for reading and as a data carrier for conveying information, were to be seen and reshaped from the point of view of creative redesign, comparable to the transformation process to which Picasso subjected the bicycle saddle and handlebars in his famous "Bull's Head".
