05.12.2017-07.01.2018: "Komm herüber nach Makedonien": Exhibition of the Institute of Protestant Theology in the Paderborn University Library
Under the title "Komm herüber nach Makedonien", the Institute of Protestant Theology at Paderborn University is exhibiting photographs from Thessaloniki in the university library.
These photographs provide an insight into life in the second largest city in Greece. Ancient monuments, Byzantine churches and Ottoman buildings can be seen as an expression of the city's long, multicultural history. The photographers have succeeded in capturing the specific atmosphere of Thessaloniki - an incentive for some viewers to get to know this unique city for themselves.
The exhibition is linked to the partnership between the Institute and the Faculty of Theology at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, which has existed since 2015. The first joint Greek-German summer school was held in Thessaloniki in September 2017. It was entitled "Learning religion in a multicultural context". During the one-week stay in Greece, the apostle Paul, who founded a Christian community in Thessaloniki, was also an important topic. The title of the exhibition is a biblical quotation from the Acts of the Apostles (chapter 16, verse 9), in which Paul, who had just been in Asia Minor, is asked to go to Macedonia.
The exhibition will open on Tuesday, 5 December 2017 at 13:30. It can be visited until 7 January 2018 during the opening hours of the University Library: Monday to Friday: 7:30 am to midnight, Saturday to Sunday: 9:00 am to 9:00 pm (closed on public holidays).

21.04.-12.05.2017: "Ich schenke Dir ein Gedicht" - The University Library presents the poetry recommendations of 2016 and 2017
On World Book Day, which is being celebrated under the motto "I give you a story", the University Library would like to highlight one genre of literature in particular: poetry.
As part of the exhibition, German-language volumes of poetry and poetry translated into German that were published in 2016 and 2017 and are considered particularly outstanding by the German Academy for Language and Poetry, the Poetry Cabinet Foundation, the Literaturwerkstatt Berlin and the German Library Association will be presented.
The volumes are on display in the foyer of the library. In addition, students, staff and visitors can be inspired by individual selected poems at various locations in the library. In this way, the library aims to give poetry a greater diversity of voices and 'give away' poems to its readers.
The exhibition can be visited from 21 April to 12 May 2017 during the opening hours of the University Library: Monday to Friday: 7:30 am to midnight, Saturday to Sunday: 9:00 am to 9:00 pm.

15.03.-23.04.2017: "Auszeit" - exhibition of a participatory art project at Paderborn University Library
Stressed faces, jostling crowds, deafening noise, even lunch with its endless queues becomes a stress factor - in short: this is our everyday university life. Everyone is affected and everyone rushes along. The feeling of restlessness and the impression of no longer being able to keep up with things are all over our faces.
As the involvement of the viewer in art is indispensable nowadays and art also means becoming active as a recipient, your "Powernap" will become part of a work of art. The "Auszeit" project aims to invite students, staff and visitors to Paderborn University to take a break from their restless everyday lives and engage with art in a participatory way at the same time. To this end, an object designed by Paderborn University art students as part of the "Get involved" seminar will be set up in the foyer of the university library, offering the opportunity to take a break.
The art project can be seen from 15 March to 23 April 2017 during the opening hours of the University Library: Monday to Friday: 7:30 am to midnight, Saturday to Sunday: 9:00 am to 9:00 pm (closed on public holidays).
16.-20.01.2017: "Werdet ein Teil der Sammlung" - project from the art seminar "Get involved"
From 16 to 17 January and from 19 to 20 January 2017, a table with a wooden box will be in the field of the library's information centre. This is an art project by Julia Theis from the art seminar "Get involved".
Anyone who has the time and inclination is welcome to fill in a postcard in the wooden box and become part of the collection.
