01.10.2022: Theatre lab meets Jenny Aloni. One-off performance on the life and work of the Jewish writer from Paderborn
Her texts depict a life full of inner and outer tensions: Jenny Aloni always processed her experiences in literary form. With the support of the Paderborn University Archive, the Bielefeld Theatre Lab has now developed a performance inspired by Jenny Aloni's life and work. The performance will take place on Saturday, 1 October, in Building I of Paderborn University. It starts at 19:00. Admission is free, registration is not necessary.
Jenny Aloni lived from 1917 to 1993. The Paderborn Jew emigrated to Palestine in 1939 and survived the Holocaust. Her estate is being looked after by Anikó Szabó and can be found in the Paderborn University Archive: letters, diaries, poems, stories and novels.
The theatre laboratory, an ensemble-based, independent theatre company, directed by Indira Heidemann, has conceived the performance especially for the entrance hall in Building I of Paderborn University. A total of twelve performers dedicate themselves to the texts, thoughts and ideas of Jenny Aloni. The musical accompaniment is provided by Karl Godejohann. After the one-hour performance, there will be an opportunity to talk to the artists in a relaxed atmosphere.
The event is part of the two-year project "Kultur BeWegungen - jüdische Kunst und Kultur in OWL" and is sponsored by the Ministry of Culture and Science of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia.
28.04.2022: Boys' Day (also) at Paderborn University Library
On 28 April 2022, the nationwide "Boys' Day" will take place at the same time as the "Girls' Day".
Paderborn University's diverse programme offers boys and girls in grades 7-13 the opportunity to get a taste of the university atmosphere. With various offers, the aim is to show that there is also a lot to discover and explore beyond the study programmes and apprenticeships traditionally chosen by boys or girls.
The University Library is taking part in this event and is offering two internships from 9.00 a.m. to 12.00 p.m. in the "Media and Information Services Specialist, specialising in the library" apprenticeship.
03/04 March 2022: "Long night of writing - digital"
From Thursday, 3 March, 7 p.m. to Friday, 4 March 2022, 3 a.m., the Competence Centre for Writing and the University Library, together with other institutions of the university, will once again be organising the 'Long Night of Writing (LaNa)'.
This year, we have to face the pandemic situation again and will offer the LaNa in purely digital form. Last year's experience has shown us that communication, motivation and enthusiasm for collaborative writing are also possible in this format.
Students from all faculties can take part in workshops and lectures via well-known communication programmes, such as 'BigBlueButton', and take advantage of the offer of individual advice on writing, literature searches and IT. Joint exercise breaks and yoga provide pleasant interruptions.
Registration is via the library's booking system for training courses.
Information on the programme can be found on the pages of the Writing Competence Centre.
Other partners of the 'Long Night' are: Schreibtreff für internationale Studierende, Orthografie@upb, Hochschulsport, IMT:doIT, Zentrale Studienberatung and ProLernen.
