Library card for employees of Paderborn University
Employees with a Paderborn University contract have the possibility to get a combined service/library card or a library card, provided they have a valid Paderborn University account.
Combined service/library card
You can apply for the combined service/library card in the ZIM service portal .

You can log in with your university account.

Under the menu item "Administration" you will find the category "Service/library card", where you select "Apply for my service/library card".

If you would like to apply for a combined service and library card, select "Combined service/library card".

You will now be asked to upload a photo for the card. - If there is already a photo for your website in the person manager, this will be displayed. You can use it or upload a different one.

The selected photo will then be cropped or the section selected.

You will then be asked to confirm that you recognise our user regulations and that you have taken note of Section 12 of the user regulations.

After you have applied for your library card, you will be informed as soon as your card has been finalised and you can collect it at the counter of the local lending desk of the library.

Please bring your identity card or your passport with a confirmation of registration from the residents' registration office (registration certificate), which must not be older than 1 year, or another valid official identity document with a photograph and address details with you when you collect your library card.
If you have your library card collected by a third party, it is necessary for the person collecting it to present a certificate of authorisation signed by you and their own identity card in addition to your identity card when collecting it.

You can apply for a library card for employees in the ZIM service portal .

Under the menu item "Administration" you will find the category "Service/library card", where you select "Apply for my service/library card".

If you 'only' want to apply for a library card, select "Library card".

On the following page, please confirm that you recognise our user regulations and that you have taken note of § 12 of the user regulations.

After you have applied for your library card, you will be informed as soon as your card has been issued and you can collect it at the counter of the local lending desk of the library.

Activate library card
Each card must be activated once before it can be used for the first time. This can be done on the login page of the catalogue via' Activate account now'.
Password
You set the password for your library account when you activate your user account.

You can access your library account via the University Library catalogue and change your password under the menu item 'My account'. - Forgotten password
If you have forgotten your password, you can reset it on the login page of the University Library catalogue under 'I forgot my password'.
Change address and e-mail
All personal data in the library account is entered via the ZIM service portal .
This means that your university e-mail address is automatically stored in our lending system and cannot be changed. However, you can arrange for it to be forwarded to your private e-mail address via the ZIM service portal.
Loss of the combined service/library card or library card
If you lose your combined service/library card or library card, please block it immediately via the ZIM service portal.
- You can log in with your university account.
- Under the menu item "Administration" you will find the category "Service/library card", select "Block card".
- If you find your card again, you can unblock it in the same way.
- If the card is permanently lost, you can also apply for a replacement card here.
- Please note that you can only use the ZIM service portal to unblock a card that you have blocked yourself. Other blocks, e.g. due to fee overruns, cannot be cancelled via the ZIM service portal. In these cases, please contact the staff in the local lending department of the library.
